Oak Table Art Volunteers showed me how I could express myself through art. I never saw myself as artist before coming here, but now I do. I couldn’t afford to buy the art supplies so it’s nice to have a place where I don’t have to worry about how I can afford it. The supplies are here for us to use.

I’ve been coming to Oak Table since there were just a few people sitting around a table sharing a cup of coffee. It’s way bigger than that now, but it still has that same feeling. People are very nice here. Everyone is treated with respect.

I’m on disability. My rent takes up most of my cheque. If I didn’t have Oak Table to come to during the week, I would lose my apartment. Eating here let’s me get an apartment where I feel safe and have my privacy. I don’t think I could live in a hotel or a rooming house. The food is good and everyone is nice here.

Oak Table is the place I learned how to journal. That helped me deal with the grief and anger I felt after my wife died.
