To make a difference is not a matter of accident, a matter of casual occurrence of the tides. People choose to make a difference. -Maya Angelou
On Friday May 8th we enjoyed an appreciation luncheon in honour of the many volunteers who work to provide a place of compassion and hope for our guests. We shared food and conversation, door prizes and each volunteer received an Oak Table apron.
No event could convey the depth of appreciation for what this dedicated group of people do each week. They are the hands and feet of our mission. In talking with our volunteers the most frequent reason they give for volunteering is that they "want to give something back". Time is a precious commodity. We spend much of our time wishing we had more of it. When one comes across people who are willing to give it away to help better someone else's day, it is indeed special.
Thanks to each of you for sharing your gifts! It has been wonderful working with you.
A volunteer is a person who believes that people can make a difference and is ready to prove it. Uknown
